Decentralised Energy

This was one of the projects in the Climate East Midlands Skills Programme, funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government, and designed to support the decentralisation of power to the local level by enhancing the skills that local authorities and their local communities need to take positive action on climate change.

The Carbon Trust have led a decentralised energy project that will built on a DECC funded regional energy and heat mapping study. 

Six masterclasseses were held on the folowing subjects

  • Developing to local policy standards - a developer's view
  • Rural opportunities for decentralised energy
  • Energy from waste
  • Planning for wind
  • Combined heat and power
  • Delivery and Energy Service Companies (ESCos)

Five case studies will be generated from the programme.
