Well Adapting East Midlands
Well Adapting East Midlands was one of the projects in the Climate East Midlands Skills Programme, funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government and designed to support the decentralisation of power to the local level by enhancing the skills that local authorities and their local communities need to take positive action on climate change. This project provided continuing support to local authorities and their local strategic partners in becoming more resilient to extreme weather and better adapted to the future climate. A range of activities took place during 2011/12 to help build adaptive capacity and extend knowledge and understanding, that culiminated in
- publishing the findings of a short research project that looked into the impacts of extreme weather for the cities and counties of the East Midlands
- publishing a series of adaptation case studies from across the East Midlands
- agreeing on a set of outcome-based indicators that will help to inform
- a self assesment and sharing of best practice on progress that has been made during 2011/12
This project builds upon the Planning to Adapt project which ran April 2009 - March 2011 and helped local authorities to make significant progress against the requirements of the former National Indicator 188 'Planning to Adapt to Climate Change'.
Some of the project outputs can be found on the Well Adapting East Midlands Resources page.
