Projects
In the East Midlands, our approach has been to pursue regional scale activity on the one hand and to provide more intensive support to local climate change action on the other. In particular, this has meant engaging with our key strategic partners in local government, all of whom now have formal climate change commitments and targets, through National Indicators 185, 186 (C02 reductions from LA operations and per capita reduction in C02 emissions in the LA area). Our projects aim to reduce regional carbon dioxide emissions by an average of 10% per person (according to National Indicator 186) and to achieve an average rating of Level 3 against National Indicator 188 Planning to adapt to Climate Change. These targets reflect those that have been formally agreed between central and local government through our nine Local Area Agreements (one for each city and county across the region).
