Adaptation papers for planners
One of the outputs from the Skills Programme project 'Planning for Adaptation' was a set of Thematic Papers. These are based upon the input and discussion at the different project workshops (Introductory, Locality and Thematic) which were run over autumn - winter 2011/12 by the UK Climate Impacts Programme in association with the Town and Country Planning Association. The finished papers are now available (from July 2012) and can be downloaded below. They are a succinct summary of the key issues involved in planning new developments to take account of climate change and signpost other more detailed guidance and support.
The TCPA published some revised guidance for local authorities 'Planning for Climate Change', on behalf of the Planning and Climate Change Coalition in April 2012, to take account of the new National Planning Policy Framework. This is also available for download below and includes guidance on mitigating climate change through planning in addition to adaptation.
