East Midlands Carbon Management Programme

The first returns from Phase 1 of the East Midlands Carbon Management programme show that, with two authorities still to report, savings of just over £250,000 have already been achieved.  The total year on year savings identified from the programme were almost £3 million, for a programme that cost £170,000.

East Midlands Improvement and Efficiency Partnership commissioned the Carbon Trust to develop and run a carbon management programme that was suitable for smaller districts.  Following the success of Phase 1 of the programme, a second phase was commissioned.  All East Midlands local authorities, fire and rescue authorities and the Peak District National Park have now had the opportunity to take part in a free carbon management programme and 40 out of 46 councils now have a five year carbon management plan.
