This free, interactive, half-day workshop is for businesses in the Food and Drink sector. Featuring speakers, case studies, and the opportunity to discuss with industry peers, this workshop is designed to support companies to increase their resilience to severe weather and climate change

When: Wednesday 11th February 2015. A half-day workshop held in the morning, followed by a networking lunch.

Where: Bradgate Bakery - Ashton Green (a division of Samworth Brothers), 5 Bennion Road, Beaumont Leys, Leicester, LE4 2AD. (This is a new site, so satellite navigation systems may not recognise the postcode. Detailed information on how to find the venue will be sent out to delegates a week in advance, with the joining instructions.)

Speakers:

  • Peter Andrews, Sustainability Executive at the Food and Drink Federation, will talk about the key challenges facing the food and drink sector in relation to severe weather and climate change.
  • Simon Noble, Project Manager at Cleone Foods Ltd, will talk about their motivations and approach to business resilience.
  • Kay Johnstone, Environment and Business Advisor at the Environment Agency's Climate Ready service, will talk about how to use existing management systems to increase resilience (e.g. Environmental Management Systems and Business Continuity Management Systems).

Background:

This workshop is part of the Building Business Resilience project. Climate East Midlands has delivered 11 business resilience workshops in the East Midlands between 2012 and 2014. Around 175 participants took part and they all rated the workshops as good or excellent. We have also supported similar workshops in the West Midlands.
